ShovelingSnow

Merry Christmas!!! Hey it snowed most of Christmas Day, so when it quit snowing we had to go out and "shovel snow". I haven't done that since I was a kid. I'll include "real" pictures when I get home and unload my camera.

Christmas is more fun when you have little ones around. Hope you had a good one!!!!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

We are loading up and heading out to spend Christmas and New Year in the snow.
We are leaving in the morning to stop in Hisperia, California and wish "Uncle Howard" a happy birthday #79, then on to Las Vegas where Loralie promised dad some chicken enchiladas.
On Tuesday we hope to be up early to go to St. George, Utah (no snow yet) to spoil the newest great grand baby, then to Panaca, Nevada to deliver Nana's gift and give her a Christmas Hug. We would like her to jump on our Christmas Sleigh (do you think there is room?) and come to the snow with us, but I don't think she will.
So then we will head for the snow (we hope). Our plan is to make it to the Jim Fernley's in Harriman for Christmas. Then we hope to spend a few days with the Troy Fernley's in Farmington. Sooooo, we are off!!! Will not be back in California until the New Year!!
Please join us at the Jim Fernley's in Harriman for a Family New Year Celebration. Grandpa has some plans up his sleeve!!!

Newport Beach Temple

We love our cozy little temple. Yesterday was the last shift we work this year. It was raining so hard, and the wind was blowing so hard, that I could not open the front door to leave. Fortunately there was a very strong brother stationed at the door to let me out.
It was a very slow day, the good thing about a slow day is that the sisters on my shift get to know one another better. It was also the week before Christmas so everyone brought a favorite treat. So, as well as getting to know each other better, we got to sample some really yummy treats and now I really do have to 1.) quit eating and 2.) start exercising. Oh well, January is coming.
We are happy for the rain, although some that were affected by the fire last month, had to be evacuated this month because of possible mud slides. I'm so happy in my little "grandma" house in the "low lands". We just stay hunkered down here dry and warm.
That's all for this year, unless I get bored with the rest of what I have to do.

Back to the Parents

I found some old black & white photo's when my parent were young, even when I was young - when the world was black & white. Anyway, so you can peak in my blog and find something new, (while I get some more scanned) here are some pictures taken in Upland, California (where I was born) of my handsome parents, and one of me too.

Awwww how cute!

Christmas

I'm almost ready for Christmas!!! Hooray - all the gifts are wrapped, just need to get some in the mail. Then to fill in my time I have been asked to help with a quilt for our Bishop, never a dull moment, they want it completely finished by Christmas Eve. I've never heard of getting one done that fast, but I suppose they can do it if the put their mind to it. You might like to see one or two of my quilts, they all took more than 2 weeks.

Have a w wonderful Christmas. Mom/Grandma/Farawaygrandma/Jacquie

And the first shall be last

My first, oldest, and most beautiful child is a girl! (I bet you guessed that already) Loralie Ann Fernley was born 21 February 1962, In San Diego, San Diego, California. She has light brown hair, brown eyes - surprise - surprise, is 5'4", 2 inches taller than her mom. She has a bright, bubbly, happy personality. She has 8 boys and has often said she does boys really good, but she also has 2 girls and she does them really good as well.

Loralie is married to a great man who supports her is her goals, and annoys her just enough to keep her on her toes.

Loralie, at 46, has gone back to school this year for her bachelors degree, I am so proud of her!!! She is doing sub-teaching while she is accomplishing this goal.

Loralie has 5 grand children - 5 of her children are married, 3 simply roaming around doing the single thing, leaving her 2 at home. I'll elaborate on each of this crowd when I get to the grands.

Loralie at 2 months, I told you she was an adorable baby!!!

Below is Loralie and her sweetheart James W. Cuff

The "Middle" Child

My "middle child" is James Grant Fernley, born 20 March 1964 in La Mesa, San Diego, California. He is a most kind caring man, his little children love him so much, that he sometimes does not even go into the house after work if he has something to do outside. He is 5'9" tall, has brown eyes and dark brown hair. He has so many "cow licks' that it has to be "slicked down". My Jim is very mechanical, his children know that he can fix anything and really even I am absolutely sure of that fact.

Jim has 5 children; Katie, Mandy, Emily, C. & then J. (Christopher James) and last Nathan Grant. I will tell you more about these bright happy children later.

Jim is married to a wonderful, "happy to be a mom" woman. Stephanie Ballard was an answer to prayer when he met and married her. We love her dearly and she fits right in with our family.

Here is James at 2 months, doesn't he have the most kissable cheeks??? I loved to cuddle this little one.

Here he is again just a bit older, and below is his eternal companion Stephanie

And the first shall be last!

I'm finally figuring out how this works. What I want to do now is tell you about my amazing children. So in order to get it in order, I shall begin with my youngest. The cutest little boy you ever knew and now he is grown into a wise, kind, caring, father and husband. Of course you don't have to agree with me, I'm his Mom.

Troy John Fernley was born 3 June 1968 in Belflower, Los Angeles, California. He is now 5'11" (known as "the long one" in our family) He has brown eyes and dark brown hair. He is married to a wonderful woman Nicole Christensen Fernley, she is an absolute joy to have in our family. Troy has one daughter, Tasha, but that's another story when I get to my many terrific grand children.

Here is Troy at 2 Months, isn't he the cutest, cuddly, sweetest baby? He had such a happy disposition and he liked to set in front of the TV and watch soccer.

Now I shall post a picture of the Troy we all know and love in the present. Not quite so cute and cuddly but defiantly a happy man! The lovely lady on his right is his eternal companion, Nicole!!

The Complete Family September 1971

I'm sure those that have been following this family are curious to see what we look like all together - so here is the family picture I cut up to give you individual photos of each of us. Where should I go now, forward or continue backward???

The Grant & Guila Wilcock Family - 1971, Richfield, Sevier, Utah

The Last one

Helen Dawn Wilcock was born 7 June 1956 in Richfield, Sevier, Utah. She has one son and 5 grand children. Helen is 4'10" (on tip toes) she has dark auburn hair and brown eyes. She currently lives in Reno, Nevada and is an elementary school teacher. And I know she is really good at it, she loves the little ones. Here is her picture, dated - guess what 1971.

A New Sister

Ruth Regina Wilcock, Born 18 September 1954, Nephi, Juab, Utah - Died 17 September 1972, Delta, Millard, Utah. Regina (Jeannie) was about 5'2", I think - kind of like the rest of us. She may have been an inch taller. She had brown eyes and you can see by the picture in 1971 she was doing the teen age, "I don't want to be here" thing.

She was enrolled in a technical school in Utah when she died, she had just graduated from Bountiful High School. She was staying with Dad who was working in that area. She and Dad had left Pioche, Nevada after celebrating Jean's birthday when the accident happened. One car again, looked like the driver hit the soft shoulder and over corrected. Small car - both killed instantly.

Regina loved her nieces and nephews, she was an excellent baby sitter because she like to play with them, take them to the park, whatever to be near them, and they loved her.

Unfortunately I left home before I knew Regina very well, so will certainly welcome comments.

Horray a Brother

John Grant Wilcock was born 30 June 1950 in Delta, Millard, Utah. How much fun do you think 3 little girls had with a brother??? He IS so spoiled!!

John is 5'9", I think, Dark hair, blue eyes - surprise surprise. He is built and looks much like Dad. He too has a "tease" personality but all the children in our family love Uncle John, a common cry is "come tickle me Uncle John".

John is married to Taresa Hampton, they have 3 children. Amy June, Lola Stark and Jason Wilcock. They have 9 (I think) grandchildren and from what I know they all love their "Papa" and "Memo".
Guess when this was taken!! (1971)

The Next Sister

OK, time for one more - is Sunday a good time for this???

My next sister, 3rd child in my family is Sharian Lynn Wilcock, born 12 December 1948 (Mom still puts her Christmas Tree up on this day) in Richfield, Sevier, Utah and Died the 13 August 1968. Sharian (Sharrie) was probably about 5'2", we are not very tall in this family. She had strawberry blond hair, brown eyes, or were they green? I don't remember. Slight build, who know how she would have grown up. She was happy, energetic, and very creative. She would sing silly songs that she made up. (got that from dad). One I remember was "A Dasie on my toe" and she would have an imaginary person hiding in the palm of her hand and dress it. This game really held the attention of my Loralie & James.

She was killed in a one care accident on the Caliente Summit with her sweetheart. They were planning to be married soon.

Here is a picture of Sharrie, it is her college picture. She went to school for one year at BYU Hawaii.

My Happy Sister

This picture is of me age 2 and RosaLee age probably about 6 months. It really is a black & white but RosaLee with all her talent learned to tint old pictures and made us come alive.

My sister just younger than me is RosaLee Ann, born 10 Sept. 1946, in Delta, Millard, Utah. She is 5'2" tall, has dark hair, but lately it's been blond, I guess under the blond it's gray like mine.

We like to do the same king of things only different. For instance I china paint, she paints dolls. I quilt (straight seams) she makes cloths, mostly for grand children. She has began quilting and it's fun to share patterns etc. We both embroidery and have done some fun projects. If we work on the same project, we seem to stay connected more often.

She is a wonderful cook, I don't cook. My daughter once said her goal was to be just like Aunt Lee, cook, sew, all of those talents and she has acquired those skills. (Correction) She said she wanted to be just like me, but be able to do all the things Aunt Lee does. Loralie is old enough to correct me

Her husband is David Joseph, she has 4 children and 12 grand children. The all live close to her and David so she has a great influence on them.

Can you tell I love this woman, but she is a little intimidating, I don't think I can really measure up.

Here is her picture taken in, you guessed it - 1971.

Pushing Along

Alright!! I'm getting the hang of this. Eventually I'll be able to sign on without even thinking about it. Thanks to my terrific daughter for her encouragement and support.

Next in my Family tree is my Mom. Her name is Guila (pronounced Gila) May Jensen, she was born September 23, 1926 in Richfield, Sevier, Utah. She is 5'4", has dark hair, however, I think if she let it grow out it would now be gray. Her posterity is large, she is beginning to have great great grand children. She lives in a very Small community called Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada. We have dubbed her home "Ye old homestead" . Below is a picture of Mom taken in, big surprise, 1971.

Here is a picture of both Mom and Dad, taken in 1944, in Upland, Californian after I was born!! Do you think they look very young and is love???

OK FINE

I'm unable to get the picture I wanted here, so I'm "adapting" that's what my eye Dr. said today. My eyes are not any better, but I'm "adapting" so I appear to be able to see better. That sounds silly but I'm feeling OK about it.
Anyway on to "My Family" Here is a picture of my Dad, he was born 31 October 1919 in Spry, Garfield, Utah, he died in a car accident on September 17, 1972 in Delta, Millard, Utah.
As an adult he stood 5'9", I don't know how much he weighed, but the joke in our family is that his pant size was 30X30. He had thick dark brown, nearly black hair, brown eyes and he loved us unconditionally. He was so much fun to be around, he teased mucho, I think my son James is almost as good a tease as my Dad. If I can get this to work I will post a picture of Dad, taken 1971, a family picture I have cut it apart for Family History purposes.

Beginning

I'm probably not going to be really good at this, but my purpose is to accaquent my "Descendants" with their Family history. I will begin with Me.
I'm the Farawat Grandma. I am the oldest of 6 children. I was born in California, all of my siblings were born in Utah. In 100 years or less if I don't keep good records, I could be lost out of my family. Think about it, would you go looking for me????
